About Us

OUR JOURNEY SO FAR

SC Pilates Network was founded in 2013 by Silvia Catani after completing her Level 3 Mat Pilates Diploma.

Silvia was first recommended to try Pilates by a physiotherapist to overcome back pain and other symptoms she was experiencing in relation to hypermobile joints.

She quickly fell in love with the health and wellbeing benefits she experienced as a result of her weekly practice and was so passionate about how Pilates had helped her that she wanted to share this with others in her local community.

“Within weeks I noticed reduced pain in my midback area and over the course of my first year practicing Pilates I improved my shoulder stability, strengthened the muscles around my ankles and feet and worked on lengthening and strengthening my lower back area.  I had been living with so many ‘niggles’, some of which I didn’t even notice any more until they were gone!”

SCPilates Network has since evolved into a network of highly qualified, dedicated instructors now teaching throughout our pop-up studios in Bearsden, Lenzie, Milngavie, Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch.

You’ll notice that most of our instructors have followed a similar path in finding their passion for Pilates. All of our instructors are dedicated to their Continued Professional Development as movement coaches, one thing they all have in common is a thirst for knowledge and an ability to work with the bodies they have in front of them.  It has been said we have the best instructors around, so we can guarantee you’re in safe in hands!

EXPERT INSTRUCTORS

All of our instructors are qualified to Level 3 Mat Pilates as a minimum requirement and are dedicated to continuing their professional development with ongoing training every year.

ABOUT PILATES

Pilates is a highly effective exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates at the turn of the 20th century. Working from the deep stabilising muscles to tone, elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance, helping to improve posture and movement without stressing the joints. A regular Pilates practice will, quite simply, improve how you move… start your Pilates journey today!

Through a combination of these disciplines, practitioners can expect to feel and see the many benefits of a regular Pilates practice, including:

  • Core Strength/Endurance
  • Improved Posture
  • Increased Flexibility

Pilates is suitable for all levels of fitness and flexibility (it is not a pre-requisite for you to be able to touch your toes!) and is regularly recommended by Doctors, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors to overcome various musculoskeletal issues.

“When all your muscles are properly developed you will, as a matter of course, perform your work with minimum effort and maximum pleasure” Joseph Pilates.
