About me

Silvia developed a love for Pilates after it was recommended by a physiotherapist to overcome back pain and other symptoms in relation to her hyper-mobile joints. She quickly became hooked on the health and well being benefits she experienced and was so passionate about how it was helping her, she wanted to share this with others.
After completing her training in 2013 she started teaching weekly classes around East Dunbartonshire. She said ‘At the time it was really difficult to find quality Pilates instruction in the area, especially those with small class sizes that were suitable for those with previous injuries. I knew most people wouldn’t travel to the West End like I had and so wanted to offer this to my local area’.
Silvia completed her initial Diploma with Fiona Brown at the Energy wise Academy in Edinburgh and having completed CPD with them, continued her studies further at Body Control Pilates in London. Having experienced how Pilates healed her chronic pain she developed an interest in working with those in a similar situation to herself, focusing on functional movement. She is qualified to teach Pre & Post Natal clients, those with Osteoporosis, Scoliosis and the elderly and infirm. She always enjoys learning about conditions that can be improved with movement.
Silvia was forced to take a break from teaching Pilates in 2020 after being diagnosed with ME/CFS however she continues to work behind the scenes managing the busy schedule at SC Pilates Network and finding new ways to bring Pilates to you. She said ‘I realise now is the time for me to focus on my own health although I do plan on returning to teaching when my health allows. I am so fortunate that we have some of the best instructors in the area teaching our classes both face to face and online. I can rest easy knowing our members are in safe hands’. She writes about her experiences as she works to improve her well being in her blog – Balance Babe.
